Coach Ben Blumenthal said “I was very pleased with our base running and timely hitting. Our base running was the key to our offense this weekend and enabled us to win the championship.” Trey Bunch got the tournament started in the right direction for the Astros with a walk off single to beat the East Cobb Braves on Friday night. Spencer Keefe belted a 3 run HR in the trees on Field 6 to cap off a win Saturday against Titans Baseball. Pascanel Ferraras was the MVP of the event for his great defense and excelled in the semifinals and finals where he hit two 2Bs and a HR. The Astros beat Home Plate-Vandy 13-7 in the Championship Game. Congratulations 12u Astros!

Coach Wes Rynders said “I am proud of the boys for getting their first tournament win on the season. We had some great contributions on the mound and at the plate but our base running was the key to our offense this weekend. We had 36 stolen bases in the 4 games and it allowed our offense to score easily.” Ryan Davis paced the attack in bracket play by going 4-5 in the semifinals and finals. Gavin Lee pitched 6 inn allowing only 3 hits and 1 run while striking out 9 in the semifinals. JP Martin pitched well in the finals to earn the win. Justin Wrobleski powered the offense all weekend while going 6-11 with 1 HR and 8 RBIs in four games.The Astros won the Championship Game over the Double Day Rockies 17-5. The 14U Astros continued their winning way capturing their third tournament championship in a row winning the USSSA 14U Qualifier at East Cobb over the March 21-23 weekend.  The ‘Stros posted pool wins over the Michigan Expos (10-1, WP Austin Moody), Georgia Stars (11-1, WP Jacob Riordan).  In bracket play, tournament MVP Levin Lackey pitched for the ‘Stros in a 13-0 win.  This was followed by 4-2 win over Team Demarini Gold (WP Lane Keylon, S Will Banfield).  In the Championship, the ‘Stros rolled over the 6-4-3 Tigers 13-3 (WP Darius Pope).  In addition to picking up a win on the mound, Lackey was 7 for 9 on the weekend at the plate with 4 doubles and 7 RBI’s.  The Astros remain perfect on the season with a 14-0 record and return to action this weekend in the USSSA Georgia Majors at the ECB Complex.
