Congratulations to 3 ECB teams for winning championships this past weekend March 7-9th. The 13u Yankees won the Div 2 Triple Crown Slugfest in Forsyth, 11u Astros won the TbS Ga Qualifier and the 14u Astros won the Triple Crown Slugfest!!

Coach Mike Cooney said “I’m very proud of the boys and how they are improving. The played well this past weekend and we hope to build on it.” Congratulations 13u Yankees!!

11u Astros

The 11u Astros continued their winning ways this past weekend in beating Stars and Stripes(SC) 7-4 in the championship game of the TbS Ga Qualifier. They have won two consecutive tournaments with an overall record of 12-0-1. Once again the pitching of the Astros dominated the event as they allowed an average of only 3 runs per game. In the championship game Cooper Kinney delivered a bases loaded clearing triple to tie the game and went on to score what would be the game winning run. Cooper also came in and closed the game on the mound and recieved MVP honors for his great performance. Coach McDevitt said “Our boys showed resiliency in the championship game against a very talented Stars and Stripes(SC) team. Cooper hit a rocket shot into the corner that sparked the win. Our pitching, defense and timely hitting were key to our championship run.” Congratulations again 11u Astros!!

14u Astros

The 14U Astros racked up their second tournament win of the season in as many tries pushing their season mark to a perfect 10-0 by winning the Triple Crown Slugfest at the East Cobb Baseball facility over the March 7 weekend.  Josiah Futral was the ‘Stros MVP for the weekend going 5 for 11 in 4 games and picking up the game winning hit in a 4-2 ‘Stros victory over Team Demarini Black in the Championship game.  The Astros outscored their opponents 52-8 on the weekend with pool wins over The Georgia Stars (WP – Levin Lackey) and Swarm Baseball (WP – Jacob Riordan) and bracket wins over Georgia Seminoles (WP – Austin Moody), 6-4-3 Cougars (WP – Jacob Cabe) and Team Demarini (WP – Will Bannfield) in the Championship. Congratulations 14u Astros!!
