Jamal was drafted out of UAB in 13th round by the Seattle Mariners in the 2011 MLB Player Draft. Jamal was a member of the East Cobb Astros 16’s 2007 team. He was a freshman All-America at UAB in 2009 and Conference USA All-Conference for three years(2009-11). He also was rated Fastest Baserunner in Seattle Mariners organization 2011.
