Michael Barrett is considered one of the best players in the history of East Cobb. He was drafted in the 1st Round(28th) of the 1995 MLB Player Draft by the Montreal Expos. He made his Major League debut September 19th, 1998. He played 11 yrs in MLB(Montreal Expos 98-03, Chicago Cubs 03-07, San Diego Padres 07-08, and played his final season in 2009 for the Blue Jays). He was the 2005 Silver Slugger Award Winner for catchers while playing for the Chicago Cubs. He also was selected to represent the United States in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.
